Queso Still Lives
The vet said he should've died months ago, but I guess Queso's a fighter.
His cancer isn't being nice to him, he's got a constant bloody nose and he has some fluid build-up in his right cheek. He's scratched his face open and it leaks out, but apparently he's happier with it that way, so i'm just helping him keep it clean at this point. He seems to have his ups and downs. One day i'll think it's his time to go, then wake up and he seems fine. He still wakes me up in the morning begging for food.. he still scratches at the door when I come home from work... knowing when "it's time" has been a hard part of this ordeal recently, but as long as he is still active, i'll keep giving him food and scratching his neck.

Things Got Worse
Wow! Been awhile since i've put anything up. Well, times have not been good. Queso's lasted almost a year after being diagnosed, his vet says that's pretty much unheard of. Tough little guy, but I think his cancer is finally pulling him down. Last weekend, I noticed blood coming from his eye, which is because his tumor is growing.
Then, yesterday when I came home from work, I saw that his face was swollen. So much that his eye is practically closed.
At the time, he didn't seem to mind, he meowed, ate his food, and then I took him to the vet, who pretty much told me that his tumor has started to grow more quickly and is causing fluids to build up in his face. They gave him some steroid shot and an anti-biotic or something, to try to help with the swelling, but I was pretty much told that I should prepare for the end. Since I brought him home, he's eaten a couple times, but mostly he's just been lying around in the sad cat pose, those of you with cats will know what that is.
I honestly don't think he'll last throughout the week, and that makes me sad. He has such a friendly personality, it's hard to watch him deteriorate.. I didn't know Queso as long as I knew Blink, but I didn't love him any less. I guess stuff this is, unfortunately, part of having a pet. :(

Not So Good
Queso's cancer seems to be getting worse, and fast. Just a couple weeks ago, he would play and run around, eat all the time. Normal cat stuff. Now he's sneezing blood everywhere, lying around without sleeping, losing weight. He feels so light now. My experience with my old cat Blink is telling me that his time is getting shorter.. possibly only a couple weeks left.. not a happy time right now.

Definition of a Bad Kitty
I came home from work to find a bag of crackers i'd left on my coffee table all over the floor. How can I be mad with his little bloody nose.. of course, that was before walking to the kitchen and seeing the torn up bag of Cheetos on the floor..

Tasty Treat
Queso may be sick, but it's not affecting his appetite. Here he is trying to knock a little treat I had for him out of my hand and into his mouth.

Cancer
Well today, the biopsy results came back, and as you can tell by the title of this post, Queso has cancer... I have to find out more about it, but the vet said he's got less than a year untreated, and if there is treatment, there's not 100% chance it'd work.. i'm going to talk to the vet again to see what else I can find out.. This is really hard for me because my cat Blink died in 2009 from diabetes. I tried everything to save her, but in the end, there was nothing the vet could do..
I've been purposely avoiding uploading pics of Queso's bloody nose (the reason I took him to the vet a couple days ago). This is what he looks like when I come home from work, and usually when I wake up in the morning. I wipe the bloody snot off and it seems fine until he sleeps again, then it drips out while he's sleeping..

Queso Visits the Vet
So, I took Queso to the vet today. He's had this nasal issue for a while, runny nose, sneezing, blood in his snot.. but only from one nostril. It seemed to come and go and only a little at first, and his demeanor and eating habits haven't changed any, so it wasn't worrying, so I was hoping it would just go away permanently, but it's not going away, so I took him in this morning.
The vet took a look and suggested some x-rays and stuff because of the blood and it being only on one side. While he's there, he's getting some dental cleaning done too. It was supposed to be done today, but the vet called and they had an emergency pet come in so they had to push everything else back. Long story short, Queso gets a free room for the night and gets looked after tomorrow.
I asked how he was doing, if he still seemed scared. The lady on the phone said he’s super friendly and ‘sooo cute’ and is happy chillin’ there and just likes to be loved. She may have mentioned he's hanging with some other cats.. I don't remember.. I hope he doesn’t forget me!
Here he is at the vet. He wasn't too happy at the time. He'd just had a thermometer in his butt.
